FAQ

Apple Cider Vinegar

Raw:
This means our product was not heated to any level that would destroy the natural properties of this product.

Organic:
Our organic products (coconut oil & apple cider vinegar) are organically grown and so are free of pesticides and chemical sprays. They taste as nature intended apples to taste.

Pressed not filtered:
We take the whole apple and press it to get the most from our organic apples. That means each batch does not go through any process following pressing therefore retaining naturally health giving elements from the apple straight to your kitchen.

Unfiltered:
We do not filter the product (apple cider vinegar) to remove any sediment that may have occurred during pressing process. This means all the goodness of the apples and fermentation is retained.

5% acidity: Apple Cider Vinegar
Vinegar is naturally acidic product.

Never from concentrate:
Our vinegar is made by naturally the fermentation of pressing fresh apples. We do reconstitute concentrate to make our vinegar.

No additives or preservatives:
We do not add anything to retain the shelf life of our product. It is 100% natural.

Unpasteurised:

We do not heat this product to pasteurise it which is used in other products. During pasteurisation many good properties are destroyed and we want our product to be as nature intended it to be.

Lifeforce Apple Cider Vinegar is made in Spain using 100% whole Spanish apples, it is a 100% natural product and may vary based on the apples used i.e. different batches of our Lifeforce Apple Cinder Vinegar may vary in colour.

Another reason that our colour is different, compared to other Apple Cider Vinegar Producers is because it is unpasteurised. Lifeforce Apple Cider Vinegar contains what’s know as ‘the mother’ (named for it’s ‘life giving’ properties). The ‘mother’, which looks like sediment at the bottom of the bottle, contains strands of specific proteins, enzymes and friendly bacteria that give the product a cloudy/cobweb like appearance.

When the vinegar settles the sediment falls to the bottom of the bottle. When pouring our shaking the bottle it will mix and become cloudy brown. It is perfectly safe to drink and is a natural part of the product. This type of apple cider vinegar is more beneficial and medicinally therapeutic than Apple Cider Vinegars without ‘the mother’.

Our Raw Apple Cider Vinegar is fermented from Spanish apples. This natural process means our product is naturally active with enzymes – which is the sediment you can see at the bottle of the bottle or floating within the liquid itself.

‘The Mother’ as it referred too is believed to have many health giving properties including supporting healthy digestion. Fermentation is an ancient process of food preservation and it is believed that many of the properties attributed to fermented foods can support health digestive function.
Apple Cider Vinegar can also be used on skin blemishes and to help control dandruff. There are many ways to use it daily – make a healthy tonic/shot, use as a base for a salad dressing or marinade, add to smoothies.

Under EU regulation for food health claims, there are no legally approved health claims for Apple Cider Vinegar, as a result we do not make any such claims on our packs.
There are various references that support claims concerning the benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar, some anecdotal, some contentious and others from established sources.
Please feel free to do your own research, putting you in a position to make your own informed decision.

Apple Cider Vinegar is quite a versatile vinegar. It is commonly sprinkled over salads, used in marinades or consumed daily in a tonic (mixed with water). Tonics can be consumed anytime of the day by adding a couple of teaspoons mixed with water, raw honey or fresh juice, in the morning or before meals.

You can use apple cider vinegar as a salad dressing, drizzle it on steamed greens, use in vinaigrettes, as food preservatives, and relishes or marinate your organic meat in it. It has a truly zippy taste that will clear out your sinuses, but it will grow on you the longer you drink it.

Please keep in mind that apple cider vinegar is highly acidic, so it is always best to dilute it. We do not advise direct consumption. Apple cider vinegar may interact with diuretics and other medicines, so be sure to check with a healthcare provider before using.

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil can be used in the same way as many other vegetable oils and solid fats i.e. Butter. It adds delicious flavour in savour dishes such as stir fry and curries or substitute butter in baking recipes with coconut oil for an alternative bake. Coconut oil is also traditionally used as body moisturiser, make up remover, teeth whitener and hair conditioner. A truly diverse product.

Under EU regulation for food health claims, there are no legally approved health claims for coconut oil, as a result we do not make any such claims on our packs.

Coconut oil contains negligible amounts of cholesterol but due to EU health claims regulations we are unable to make any claims in this regard on the product labelling.

Coconut oil is a saturated fat and because of this is a stable fat that is non-toxic when heated. It has a smoke point of approximately 178 , 350⁰F (the point at which the oil starts to burn) and a flash point (the point at which the vapours will ignite) around 315⁰C or 600⁰F degrees.

Coconut oil is good for stir-frying, roasting and baking.

When bottled coconut oil is in liquid form. As a saturated fat, coconut oil is solid below 24C and will melt above this temperature. Coconut oil is always liquid in Sri Lanka where we source our coconuts from but solid when it hits Ireland. In hot kitchens the coconut oil will melt however there are no nutrients lost when it changes from a solid to a liquid and vice versa.

Aflatoxins are produced by a fungus which can grow on poorly dried foods including peanuts and coconuts. It can be harmful to humans so for this reason we test every batch of Lifeforce coconut oil produced to ensure that we are within EU safe limits.
